In the field of non-destructive examination our company works in the field of tests used to detect surface-emerging flaws.
For this kind pf testing our company uses liquid penetrant inspections and magnetic particle inspections.
The clear differentiation between the two fields is due to the nature of materials to be processed.
Ferrous-based materials, and thus capable of being magnetised, are part of the field of magnetic particle inspections, while typical light-alloy materials that of liquid penetrants.
Both processes use two different methods for flaw detecting:
-
natural light detecting
-
artificial light detecting
After the various process stages, the flaw shows on the surface with a colouring that the operator can detect in normal sunlight.
Artifical light detecting
After the various process stages, the flaw shows on the surface with a fluorescent colouring that can be detected by black-light lamp sets (WOOD light).
The basic difference when choosing either solution is field testing for natural light, whereas the use of properly-sized systems in production testing must be considered for the use of the artificial method.
